David Bailey Stardust Exhibition

David Bailey 'Stardust' exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London. A long awaited post, I went to see this exhibition in March, sorry its taken so long to write a post about it! The exhibition is still on until June so you still have some time to see this talented photographers work.

"David Bailey has made an outstanding contribution to photography and the visual arts creating consistently imaginative and through-provoking portraits. This exhibition includes a wide variety of Bailey's photographs from a career that has spanned more than half a century" [ref: npg.org.uk]

The exhibition features over 250 images, personally selected and printed by the man himself.

Images include; actors, writers, musicians, filmmakers, designers, models, artists and people encountered on his travels.  Terence Stamp, Mick Jagger, Johnny Depp, John Lennon, Beyonce, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and many more.

Bailey is known for his black and white photographs. Bailey has been one of the world's best-known and most distinctive photographers since he began capturing the swinging 60's. A personal room named after his wife, Catherine includes photographs of her pregnant.

When I studied fashion and photography at university, I always looked at David Bailey's fashion work, but he didn't start out as a fashion photographer. He was contracted as a fashion photographer for British Vogue magazine in 1960.

There was one room that caught my eye, Bailey had experimented with a camera phone, colour photos. It surprised me as I am personally not a fan of phone pictures but he has now made me feel a little differently because at least people are taking more photos and experimenting.

Overall, I have been very inspired by his work, I am going to take more portraits in every day life and would like to take more black and white photographs.

I bought a souvenir from the gift shop a magnet with one of my favourite quotes on it:

"It's not the camera that takes the picture; it's the person" - David Bailey

Giles Deacon Ann Summers SS14 Lingerie Collection

Giles Deacon has collaborated with Ann Summers on an exclusive lingerie collection due to launch in a couple of days time! (1st May)

"Unapologetically sexy with a dash of naughtiness" (ref: Daily Mail)

"From a quality perspective the fit, details and finish were of huge importance as I wanted it to look and feel as premium and as special as possible"

"I wanted it to appeal to existing Ann Summers customers, who were much more diverse than I had imagined but to also resonate with a new audience and in doing so introduce some new customers to the brand" he said.

Giles has been inspired by some of his favourite fashion photographers such as Steven Klein, Helmut Newton, Mert and Marcus, Guy Bourdain and David La Chapelle, which I think is definitely reflective through these stunning, sexy and provocative images. A few vintages finds such as Betty Paige and Jayne Mansfield have also been a true inspiration to his collection.

This high fashion collection features four key sexy lingerie ranges and accessories.

I love the bold, bright, powerful sexy imagery which reflects the brand and Giles.

Another exciting note:

Kate Moss Topshop collection launches tonight at Oxford Circus! Available in stores tomorrow

The video starts with Cara and Jourdan taking turns as they apply the Touche Eclat highlighter, to reduce signs of tiredness and brighten the complexion, hence the name of the film.
After the makeup application, the two friends pose and dance the night away zooming in on their luminous complexions.

Happy Birthday Kate Moss, 40 Today!

Happy Birthday to Supermodel Kate Moss!

Kate Moss turns 40 today, the iconic supermodel, who has been photographed by many fashion photographers from magazines such as Vogue to campaigns such as Calvin Klein, Rimmel and her latest Stuart Weitzman. British photographer David Bailey has an exhibition coming up next month at the National Portrait Gallery in London, which includes portraits of famous faces including Kate Moss.

Here I have selected a few (so many to choose from I can't add them all!) photos by photographers such as Mario Testino, David Bailey and Patrick Dermarchelier to name a few.
