Sizzling Sumer Hot Picks!

Stay cool and on trend with these key summer items picked by me.

Topshop:
Pink Lazer Cut Longline Bikini with high waisted bottoms.
(as seen on Gok's Chanel 4 series "Stripping for Summer Live")

High waisted bottoms are on trend at the moment. They are great if you want to cover up your tummy but show off your legs. The top has a beautiful cut which will give you a great cleavage!

New Look:
White Platform Cork Strappy Sandals

These sandals are the perfect essential for this summer, white will go with every summer outfit!
Wear them to a BBQ or for a wedding. The wedge makes them a comfortable choice this season.

Lipsy:
Lace Bandage Dress
This cute little black dress with bandage and lace detail with a plunge neckline is great for a summer evening. I love this, it is simple but the style and lace gives it a elegant feel as well as sexy!

Wear this to a bar, BBQ, club or anything really!

                                              Back view: Just as gorgeous!

Don't forget your nails!
What is hot right now? Barry M Gelly Hi Shine!
Pastels & brights are both on trend for this summer. From nudes, pinks, oranges and greens!
My favourites are Dragon Fruit (pink), Lychee (Nude) and Satsuma (orange)

The latest Barry M genius idea is confetti, check these out:
Great for adding as a top coat or wear them on their own.

Add some dusting of confetti to your wedding nails this season!

Regent Street, London is hosting a 100-metre catwalk show!

Do you fancy strutting down a catwalk?

This Sunday, 21st July Regent Street are inviting the public to join in on a 100 metre catwalk show. It is part of the road's traffic free Summer Streets initiative.

Created in association with the Victoria and Albert Museum, the event aims to celebrate individual style. A panel of judges will choose the five best looks. Winners will each be awarded with a goodie bag.

"Every day, each of us designs the way we look." - V&A director of programming Damien Whitmore.   I agree with this statement!

"The Street Is My Catwalk gives people the chance to show their style to the world and experience taking part in a professional fashion show. In London, style comes from the street so we wanted to reflect that. We invite everybody to come and show off their best looks."

The event will be divided into six different shows, from 1pm-5.30pm, each based upon a different theme - streetwear, sportwear, wedding, elegance, Sunday best and anything goes!

Unfortunately I won't be able to go to this event but if you do enjoy it and let me know how it goes! Exciting!
What will you wear?

David Gandy's Goodnight - Bionda Castana Autumn/Winter 2013 Fashion Film

I am so excited to blog about this!

I've just watched this video and it made me smile, I love the concept.

Bionda Castana has enlisted the help of David Gandy to create a very steamy fashion film for its autumn/winter 2013-14 campaign.

In the film, Gandy seduces a series of beautiful women - first in a hotel bar, then upstairs in their room - the film highlights the sensual relationship between a woman and her shoes, before revealing a very naughty twist at the end!

I like the low lighting, the music and the shots of the shoes. Stylishly and cleverly done in my opinion.

"I've known the Bionda Castana designers for quite a while and I don't have one female friend who hasn't fallen in love with their designs" - Gandy.

"When we sat down to talk through the creative concept for the short film, I learnt more about a woman's relationship with her shoes than I ever knew existed, it was an education!"

Hehe and now you know David, women love their shoes!

For Bionda Castana designers Jennifer Portman and Natalia Barbieri, Gandy was the natural choice.

"We're both British brands, we're both luxury brands and when the conversation came up to use the most beautiful man as the lead of our autumn/winter 2013-14 short film, there was no question that it would be David."

David Schwimmer produced the short film.

Bert Stern, Fashion Photographer

Fashion photographer Bert Stern died aged 83 the other week. In his memory, here is a post about him and his work.
An inspiration for all fashion/advertising photographers.

Stern was known for his photographs of Marilyn Monroe. He photographed her for US Vogue just six weeks before her death. The shots were later published in a book entitled 'The Last Sitting' which were taken in the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, June 1962.

Along with fellow photographers Richard Avedon and Irving Penn, he is widely credited for having redefined fashion and advertising imagery in the 50's and 60's, he had a cleaner, more candid approach to his subjects.

Stern was born in New York on 3rd October, 1929.
His first experience of taking pictures was for the US army for whom he worked as a photographer on a base in Japan. He then went onto working at 'Look' magazine where his art director Hershel Bramson later gave him his first big job as a commercial photographer - a Smirnoff campaign, which featured a close-up of a Martini with an Egyptian Pyramid in the background.

He has photographed; Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy, Truman Copote and Sophie Dahl..to name a few.
