Evans is the first-ever plus-size brand to show at London Fashion Week (LFW)

High street brand Evans is the first ever plus-size brand to show at London Fashion Week (LFW)
Sir Philip Green (Topshop) paired Evans with designers Giles Deacon, Clements Ribeiro, Hema Kaul, Lulu Liu, Jamie Wei Huang and Vita Gottlieb to create 'The Design Collective' for Evans, which mixed in-house looks with each designer's own pieces.

"This is a big and important part of the market, and we need to be seen to embrace it. You caanot ignore the market place. And you can't be defensive abour it, or apologize about plus-size fashion. Why should the category be any different from petite?" - Philip Green

I completely agree, it's a big step in the fashion world. Woman can embrace their curves, bum and boobs!
This is a catwalk show that real women can relate to and hopefully young girls can see they don't have to be size zero, super skinny like you see on the usual catwalks.
Confident, happy, normal women.

Horst P.Horst Fashion Photographer

Horst was a German-American fashion photographer.

"He created images that transcend fashion and time. He was a master of light, composition and atmospheric illusion, who conjured a world of sensual sophistication"

His photographs were featured in Vogue and House and Garden. He is alongside top photographers Irving Penn and Richard Avedon as one of the pre-eminent fashion and portrait photographers of the 20th century.

Horst: Photographer of Style exhibition is at the V&A, London. It started 6th September and is on until 4th January 2015.

Whilst studying at University I researched his work and a few of his iconic images made their way into my research sketchbook. I first discovered his work when I went to a small exhibition in London just before I went to University. I am looking forward to going to this exhibition to discover his high fashion, surrealism, travel and studio work.

To celebrate his work, here are some photos I have selected to share with you. I will blog again after I've visited his exhibition!

Flagship store opens on Oxford Street for 'ignored plus size shoppers'

The owners of a new Oxford Street store for plus-size shoppers opened yesterday, in time with the end of London Fashion Week (LFW).

Customers had felt ignored by the skinny obsessed fashion industry.

A three-storey London flagship store of the Simply Be and Jacamo brands stocks women's clothes in sizes 10-32 and menswear in small to 5XL.

The store was opened by former England cricket captain Andrew Flintoff who has battled with weight gain and bulimia and Candice Huffine who was the first woman to be included in the Pirelli calendar.

The store features a collection from the cricket captain called Flintoff by Jacamo along with brands such as Penguin, Voi jeans and Lambretta.

Female mannequins are size 16 which is average size for British women. Male mannequins are of a more athletic build. In-store images feature up to size 18.

Other features include fitting rooms are larger and a biometric scanner is available to match clothes to the body size and shape of each customer.

Opening a store on the high street means larger people can go shopping and not be made to feel uncomfortable. They can enjoy shopping and feel good that they can find their size and look good.

"One of the reasons large customers feel alienated and ignored by the fashion industry is that it has not designed clothes for them that are fashionable and enjoyable to wear"

London Fashion Week features it's first plus-size catwalk show from high street brand, Evans.

This is a big step forward for the fashion industry.

Ralph Lauren Polo SS15 New York Fashion Show in 4D

Wow.....

Ralph Lauren Polo presents the first ever 4D fashion show. Yes that's right 4D!

8th September in New York- Ralph's Polo presentation took the form of a water-screen projection in the lakes of Central Park with a grassy high spot called Cherry Hill for the audience to watch from. Models turned to mirages and  H2O holograms stood 60ft tall amongst the Manhattan skyline.

I wish I had been there to seen it - so jealous!

"I really wanted to do something big for the new Polo Women's brand - something set in the city - that felt modern" said Ralph before the show. 'We returned to Central Park, a place I love, and captured the spirit of Polo with a truly innovative mix of fashion and technology"

The collection is bright, graphic easy daywear combos, polo shirt and maxi skirts walking along city street graphics.

Just watch it.. I thought it was good. Nontraditional, fresh, exciting, intriguing, different and I think kept the audience entertained throughout!
