"MODELS 1 have joined forces with pluz-size agency Excel to form a new division - excel-Models1. The agency found after research into the area that there is a gap in the market for plus-sized models working in a high fashion environment - hence the new partnership.
"It's an exciting time for us," a Models 1 spokesperson told us this afternoon. "We're working on building an amazing stable of curvy girls. We'll be scouting in the UK, scouting international girls who've never worked in the UK - we want to create a really strong offering of plus-sized girls."
Plus-sized catwalk models including Hayley Morley and Laura Wells have been championed by designers from Mark Fast to Jean Paul Gaultier over the past few seasons. And Crystal Renn became the first plus-sized Vogue cover girl when she appeared on Vogue Mexico in April 2011."
